Talk. It helps.
I'm completely fascinated by how one person's words can be the key to a locked thought in your mind.
I'm sitting there, chatting away with my counselor about a topic I have thought over, analyzed, felt defeat over and more, and all of a sudden light bulb! One tweak in how they looked at my issue and it was like a lock fell right off the problem. All of a sudden I could fully unpack the issue and quickly had a really solid plan forming. One new thought, one new angle and a seemingly unsolvable problem became manageable.
I'm fascinated how we get in our own way. How we have such a set way, set paths, of thinking that sometimes we miss the most obvious of obvious. We think about an issue so hard that we seem to build walls up against solutions.
What if we all went to therapy, or at minimum, ensured that we always had someone to talk to? The very act of talking and hearing your problems out loud, instead of just thinking (over thinking) actually creates light bulbs too! The brain works in many mysterious ways. Maybe talking out loud to yourself isn't actually "weird" at all. Maybe it necessary.
Even the most frustrating situation can be improved, in small or large ways. We can't give up so easily. We have to stop assuming the worst. There are often solutions!
Don't get me wrong. If it feels wrong- don't do it. If your gut says stop, stop, but otherwise, find a solution! Talk it out. Write it out. Stop getting in your own way. You don't know everything. No one does.
