A Positive Shift
The world has felt so heavy lately. Not just for me, by any means, but for everyone. The Ukraine, the seemingly never-ending battle with Covid and all of the personal struggles with loss and simply daily life. The vibe has been so low and no one has been able to avoid it.
All of that said, there seems to be a shift. I feel it to my core. Maybe it's just the return of the warm sunshine...I don't know, but there is hope again.
I know for myself that this has taken effort and a very conscious decision to want different for myself. More time outdoors and less screen time has been a big piece of the change. Being in nature, hiking a beautiful trail, by the water, with a good friend...this does me a world of good. Removing the dating apps, that bring me nothing more than frustration and disappointment, and instead adding more books to listen to as I type away. It is definitely a time of personal growth.
Some things are definitely out of our control. We don't get to decide when these huge, heavy things happen...but we do get to decide how we handle it and how we move forward.
On the most basic level, I am grateful to be alive. I am grateful to have woken up this morning to a new day. Not everyone got that gift today. Lets not waste it!
My advice, take it or leave it, is to find something for you. Find something that brings YOU joy and make time for it. Life is busy, but we need to actively make time for the things that bring us joy. Challenge yourself. It can be as simple as drinking one more glass a water a day, journaling even one short paragraph at bedtime, going for a walk at lunch, a 5 minute meditation...anything that is a positive change/addition to your life is great! These small things add up. These small and simple things can bring about big changes to your mindset.
I tend to be all in when I'm feeling a shift. I eat better, join a class, blog, limit my interactions with people, majorly increase my time outdoors and general productivity in life. It feels so good. It feels right.
We have one shot at this life and tomorrow is never promised. If you aren't happy with things in your life, it's never too late to make the necessary changes. Stop complaining and get doing!
