Fix the little irritants

I have a challenge for you. As you go about your day, notice the things that irritate you. Chances are you can quickly rattle off a list right now, but don't. Notice as your day plays out what truly irritates you and what is quite easily fixed.

I have decided to fix all the things in my life that irritate me...within reason. My duvet slips constantly in the duvet cover. Drives me nuts every morning! Bought a comforter instead. Problem solved. I often break a nail while out and wish I had a nail file with me. Now there's one in my desk, car and purse! These are simple, inexpensive fixes, but changes that alleviate at least a little of the entirely unnecessary stress/irritants in my life.

I have felt physically uncomfortable in my over-crowded shed for almost 9 years now. 9! Purged, sorted, organized and voila! I open the doors, easily access what I need and a new feeling of pride accompanies the experience.

I highly disliked the jungle of a garden that grew wild infront of my house. About 5 years ago, I ripped it all out, gifted away what was good, and just let the empty garden sit there. I felt discouraged and disappointed every time I looked at it. A few $6 lavender plants, some Dollarstore plastic fence, a little mulch later, and I have a beautiful, clean garden, that makes me smile every time I see it!

Yes, these projects took time, but honestly, very little money, and made me feel so much better and almost like a real grown adult! Ha! (Yes...I am 41 years old.)

Life is too short to fight with your duvet every morning! It's too short to feel annoyed or frustrated with yourself about things that are within your control. Maybe we can't eliminate the people, places and all things that pick away at us, but we can change some of the little things, and I'm telling you...little changes add up to big improvements!

You can start big, or you can start small. Just make sure you start!
