Dimes
Before moving to the South Shore, my Mom would so often see dimes and they were always Bluenose side up. I think she took this as a sign that she was meant to live in Lunenburg. I love that. Being in Lunenburg was definitely the happiest time of her life.
After my Mom passed away, I started finding dimes too, but not just finding them at random-finding them when I needed my Mom the most. An extremely uncomfortable appointment during my divorce, a really sad moment in a grocery store, and just yesterday, on my lap, in the car. I was sitting there, feeling so low, opened my wallet and out popped a dime, Bluenose up. You're welcome to believe that this has always been a coincidence, but you won't stand a chance in convincing me.
When my little robot vacuum pushes a dime towards me, when a dime seems to all but fall out of me, when a single dime is in the dryer, or I get a message from my daughter, having just found a dime in some special way-that's my Mom. She's there when we need her the very most. Although I would do anything to have her here with us, she also never really left, and for that, I am grateful.
I hope so much that if you are fortunate enough to have an amazing Mom, and she is still with you, that you take any and all opportunities to spend time with her, to tell her you love her and let her know how appreciated she is. Don't allow room for regrets when it comes to your Mom. She is the most special person and the one who loves you without condition. Not-a-one.
If your Mom has passed, I hope you find ways to honour her and remember her always. I promise you, she sends you signs too. You just need to pay attention. Dimes, sea glass, little yellow school buses-whatever it is...notice. She's always with you and will love you forever and always.
Touching and so true ❤️
