Elder Wisdom Benches

I recently saw a post of something so simple, but so incredible-I had to share!

Elders in every community are the greatest source of wisdom, yet they are increasingly overlooked. Instead of care and respect for their wealth of knowledge and valuable contributions to society, elders are put into homes and considered irrelevant. 

With the absolute epidemic of lonliness, why are we not doing all that we can to bring people together? We need community to thrive. We need every age and stage of people to come together, share in conversation, in laughs, in tears, in hugs and even friendly eye contact. We must not hide from eachother behind our screens! We must not let tech take over! It cannot replace true human connection!

Did you know that the energy of your heart radiates up to 3 feet outside of your body? When you are near someone with a kind heart , you know it. Sitting beside these people can make your day, light you up and help your heart to shine bright for others to feel! 

Imagine sharing kindess and wisdom on an Elder Wisdom bench! You might learn a little (or a lot), make someones day, or even make a new friend. 

I propose that Lunenburg, Nova Scotia jump on this bandwagon! Everywhere in the world should! Imagine traveling abroad, seeing these familar benches, and having the opportunity to learn from an elder in a new-to-you community? This is a win-win, people!
